From the series “A Portrait of an Artist”

This film introduces us to painter Yehezkel Streichman, who was born in Lithuania and immigrated to Israel. He taught generations of artists and created a diverse body of work, becoming one of Israel’s most important painters. Streichman discovered watercolors relatively late in life, and hardly ever used a brush. He describes his paintings as expressions of events from his memories. His paintings became increasingly abstract over the years, transforming into expressions of the artist’s “mood.”

The film will be screened with “Portrait of an Artist: Moshe Castel” and both will be accompanied by a lecture by Dalit Matatyahu, Senior Curator of Israeli Art, Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
