Greed, sloth, pride, gluttony, lust, wrath, and envy – these are the seven deadly sins, according to Christianity. They have inspired countless well-known works of art, and here they take on new meaning as they are transformed into seven dance pieces.

Eric Gauthier, a musician, dancer, and choreographer, created this special performance that was presented and filmed in Stuttgart. The dancers are part of Gauthier’s troupe, but each dance here – representing each sin – has its own choreographer, among the best in the world, recruited especially by Gauthier. These include Sidi Larbi Cherkoui, Sasha Waltz, Marco Goecke, and Israelis Sharon Eyal and Hofesh Shechter. Each one interpreted their sin in a unique way without knowing what the others had produced. Gauthier’s ambitious project created a rich and mesmerizing work for the Stuttgart stage and now for the big screen as well.
