Four young and talented Parisians founded a musical quartet that has been captivating audiences for 11 years. Their mysterious name – Arod – is taken from a horse belonging to one of the knights in J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings.”

Documentary filmmaker Bruno Monsaingeon, a violinist who specializes in films about musicians, followed Arod’s members and discovered the unique contribution of each one. And that is exactly what makes their collaboration so impressive: As soon as they play together, they become one, giving new meaning to complex works by great composers. Monsaingeon’s camera entered the quartet’s rehearsal rooms, concert halls, and their lives. It captured the meditation they practice before performances, the teamwork, and the personal life of each of these remarkable young men.
