The Furnace

Director: Noam Ziv | Israel, 2019 | 52 minutes | Hebrew, English subtitles

middle of the night, hugged him and whispered a few words in his ears. After his father’s death Tuly realized this rare hug took place on the same day Eichmann was executed and that his father had a major part in this execution. While organizing his father’s legacy a drawing of the furnace built for the cremation of Eichmann has been exposed. The drawing Tuly found generated an inexhaustible outflow of work of art.
Noam, Tuly’s son makes the juxtaposition between his father and the people who took part in the process of Eichmann’s execution. In addition to the fact it is a historic event it gives us a view of the artist’s soul, an obsession and an attempt to be freed from the past but yet to inquire it and pave his way, if only symbolically, to his father’s heart.
