Electronic Vibrations – A Sound Changes the World

Director: Thomas von Steinaecker | Germany, 2022 | 52 minutes | German. Hebrew subtitles

From techno to hip-hip, from pop to contemporary classical music, electronic music and its influences can be found everywhere. The development of electronic music has been fascinating – starting with the genre’s humble beginnings in Europe to modern composers of the second half of the 20th century to its transatlantic jump to the United States, where it quickly moved from small clubs to the main stages.

This film traces the roots of electronic music, from initial experiments to the development of the first real electronic instruments in France in the mid-1940s to its breakthrough into the mainstream in the ’60s. It also recounts the success of uncompromising, visionary artists who changed the face of music. Among those interviewed are pioneers of electronic music, including Jean-Michel Jarre, Peter Baumann, and others.
