Two elderly people walk side by side through the streets of London, dressed in suits and ties. There is nothing unusual, and certainly not shocking, about them. But these are the men who revolutionized the art world with their taboo-breaking provocations.

Gilbert and George are two men who have been one artist for more than 50 years, and they also appear as one entity in everyday life: They always walk down the street together, go wild together, and get interviewed together. Even today, at over 80 years old, they continue to live and create art together. The duo’s motto from the start of their career has been “Art for All,” yet despite gaining immense popularity, they and their art still aren’t accepted by the establishment. Early on, Gilbert and George created “Singing Sculptures,” transforming themselves into bronze-painted living sculptures, and staged other performances centered on them and their colorful clothing. Later, they moved on to painting and achieved international fame. In the film, they speak candidly about themselves, their shared life, their joint work, and their approach to art, which even now has an anti-establishment, almost subversive bent.

Before or after the screening you may visit exhibitions “and yet: looking at contemporary art 1985-2025” on view at the Eyal Ofer Pavilion (6 Tarsat Blvd).
